SPB – Squire Patton Boggs

Clestra UK have recently completed a stunning project for a legal company in Central London using the IRYS pods. The installation consisted of 38 pod rooms of varying sizes and configurations to create private meeting and collaboration spaces. These configurations consisted of enclosed rooms, open bridge areas and canopies all connected to give a strong design expression. The designers Perkins & Will fully embraced the benefits of IRYS and were able to give real architectural statement to the office by introducing an increased quantity of glass.

Looking into closer detail, the wood finish was achieved by an applied laminate to the outside of the pods and the inside uses a microperforated polyester powder coated paint finish in RAL 9010 white to match the ceiling. To ensure good acoustic performances the glass selected was 12.8mm acoustic laminated held in position by aluminium profiles finished in RAL 9005 black, likewise the doorframe and ironmongery.

The IRYS due to its plug and play design allowed for a swift installation on site with minimal coordination with other trades. There was no cutting of any profiles on site as all components were pre-machined before leaving the CLESTRA factory. Furthermore as IRYS is completely freestanding without all direct fixings to any surfaces including the floor finishes, it all together captures the current trend concept of precision engineering off site manufacture and the capacity of change in the future.
